Fluid Presence

Body-Mind Centering® into Contact Improvisation Workshop

How does our fluid presence shape the way we sense ourselves, others, and the world?

In this workshop, we will focus on three essential centers of our being: the heart, the belly, and the brain. Each of these organs has its own nervous system, its own rhythm, and its own way of perceiving — each one is place of “knowing.” Though they can function independently, they are profoundly interconnected and rooted in the wider landscape of our fluid body. Their ongoing dialogue influences our emotional tone, our sensing capacities, our presence, and the way we meet the world and one another in dance.

We will explore their embryological origins and their relationships to the nervous system, discovering the inner fluid motions that support regulation, modulation, and vitality. From this calm yet deeply alive place, we will enter CI dances. We will meet through the landscapes of our inner worlds while exploring main aspects of Contact Improvisation: giving and receiving weight, following and orienting through touch, and sensing the shifting pathways and directions of our partners. As we refine and deepen these principles, they become a fertile ground from which more physically challenging dances can naturally emerge — evolving from what at first appears „simple“. Our fluid presence becomes a source of trust, ease, and multidirectional support — a ground from which openness and spaciousness can arise.

Together, we will inquire into how we can listen to both ourselves and the pathways emerging between us. What qualities of attention allow us to enter dances that are transparent in their movement and direction? How can we meet one another in a field of appreciation for what is?

Through clear anatomical guidance, imagery, touch, solo exploration, and partner work, we will invite fine cellular awareness to move to the foreground. From subtle inner spaces to expansive motion, we will allow tissues, structures, and fluids to express themselves through dance.

Throughout the week, we will move between solo and contact-based explorations. Specific anatomical material will ground and inspire our practices, weaving aspects of Body-Mind Centering® into the rich field of Contact Improvisation.

Join us for seven days of embodied inquiry, deep sensing, and dancing from the living waters within.

Il Mulino is nested in a green, lush valley in Toscana. We are dancing on an outside dance platform amongst big trees, rocks and the sounds of nature. Some steps away runs a small river in which you can bathe and cool down or just ly on big round rocks. We are embedded and embraced by nature, outside everyday. Accommodation is in tents, using compost toilets, outdoor showers and you walk on little paths between flowers, gardens, and the beauty of wilderness. Food is made with love, vegan and/or vegetarian and organic, mainly from the area.
