The significance we attribute to our heart in gestures and idioms has little in common with the medical view of the heart as a blood circulating pump. Is there a connection between the intuitive understanding, reflected in the poetry and mysticism of all cultures, and the scientific perspective?
Turning towards the embryonic appearance of our heart can establish such a connection. The embryonic heart forms as the centre of our embodied being. It takes on a function of perception, expression and synchronisation long before neural structures and sensory organs are developed accordingly.
We can use an attunement to the embryonic heart to cultivate an empathetic therapeutic presence. This creates a resonance space of the heart that bulges forward between the navel and the face. This space is individual, yet not dominated by personality. Here we are touched by impressions and impulses arise instantaneously.
The heart has its own knowledge, its own truth. In a therapeutic process, it is helpful to address the heart as an entity in its own right.

The heart’s pulsation unites and connects the various systems and rhythms of our body into a unified organism. Tidal rhythms arise, when the multitude of physiological rhythms and their interferences are finding to a natural coherence.
We will explore the following issues:
·      The heart as a stillpoint in fluid dynamics
·      The relative sinking of the heart into the developing body and its cavity
·      The heart as an expression of individual being
·      The spatial proportions of the embryonic heart and its area of supply
·      The first heartbeat
·      The heart as an organ of perception and expression
·      The resonance space of the heart
·      Social nervous system and pharyngeal arches
·      The connection between heart, hands and face
·      The back of the heart
·      In connection with the sinoatrial node: form and formlessness
·      The heart as an entity in the therapeutic process
·      Balance between heart and brain

We will meet at a seminar house situated in the Ligurian mountains in Italy. It is simple, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Vegetarian meals will be served. Simple accommodation is available in the house. Alternatively, it is possible to rent a room or flat in the neighbouring villages.

The language of the seminar will be English. Where necessary, a summary translation into Italian or German may be provided.

The course begins on Wednesday at 10am and ends Sunday with lunch. Arrival at the seminar house is Tuesday after 18.30h

Casa Prepranda is a rustic farmhouse embedded in the ligurian hills, between the small villages Giovo Ligure and Pontinvrea in the Province of Savona. It is surrounded by forests and meadows and lies near to the Unesco natural Geopark Beigua, that invites for long hikes. With the car you reach the seaside with long sandy beaches in 25min and in 1h you are in Genova.

Course fee: 580€
Accomodation at prepranda:
Dormitory (mattresses with sheets are provided; you must bring your own sleeping bag)
1 room with bunkbed (to be shared with another person)
3 rooms with doublebed
1 room with doublebed or two single beds (to be shared with another person)
You can sleep in your own van/camper on the property, camping is not possible due to the wild animals
